Extreme Heat Warning Forecast this week Aug 14-17, 2023

Please be advised that extreme heat is forecast for Penticton and surrounding areas. Daytime temperatures are expected to climb within the range of 35 to 39 degrees Celsius, accompanied by overnight lows approximately near 18 degrees Celsius. Extreme heat affects everyone.

The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.

Watch for the effects of heat illness: swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions. Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.

– Avoid unnecessary travel or exposure outdoors.

– Watch for signs of heatstroke.

– Stay hydrated.

– PIB will distribute notices on Social Media, PIB Website and the PIB App on how to keep yourself safe during the extreme heat forecast.

So, please follow the water restrictions guidelines below and try to conserve water as much as we can to keep the water reservoir at optimal levels. PIB Chief and Council want to remind community that the FIRE BAN and ATV/OFF Road Utility Vehicle Bans are still in effect. We must do all that we can to protect and take care of our community. Please be safe and consider and follow the BANS accordingly. Together we can protect our lands. Please read the notices Below

PIB COMMUNITY WATER NOTICE

High water usage is causing turbidity and sediment disturbance in the water line, which is discolouring the water. RUN your cold water for 15-20 minutes or until it is clear. PIB’s water is good but if you fell unsure, please drink bottled water.

PIB Utilities can confirm that there are rigorous controls in place for Community Safety. The water is tested daily, weekly and monthly to check chlorine and bacteria levels to ensure PIB’s water is safe to consume

SPECIAL BAND MEETING BYLAWS COMMUNITY VOTE

Come to the PIB Community Hall for dinner at 6:00pm and stay and vote for the 3 Bylaws 1.) Trespass Bylaw 2.) Community Safety 3.) Animal Safety Bylaw – Voting will be done by show of hands by those PIB Band Members that are in attendance. You must by 18years and older to vote. Voting will be open from 6:00pm – 9:00pm

NEW GARBAGE PICK UP AND BEAR PROOF BIN AGREEMENT IS AVAILABLE

PIB will be continuing pickup and disposal of garbage in the community with “NEW” plastic garbage bins that will be provided. Please fill in the form and drop off at PIB Taxation or Administration Front Desk. You can also submit your form online. Please note that your signature will be mean acceptance to receive a free bin will be delivered to your property and is to be used once received.
