Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program

The Penticton Indian Band offers the Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program (RRAP) to repair eligible substandard homes to a minimum level of health and safety.

Amount of Assistance

RRAP repair assistance is available to eligible band members if the home they occupy lacks basic facilities or is in need of major repair related to the structural, electrical, plumbing, and heating or fire safety components, and to improve accessibility for disabled persons. The home must be a minimum of five years old and any repair work that is completed prior to approval is not eligible. Assistance is available only for the band member’s primary residence located in the Penticton Indian Band. Applicants cannot be in arrears on any payments or user charges to Penticton Indian Band. RRAP repair assistance is provided as a forgivable grant.

Who Is Eligible?

Any Penticton Indian Band member 19 years of age or older is eligible to apply for the social housing program. The Band member cannot be in arrears on any payments or user charges to Penticton Indian Band. They must sign a lease agreement with Penticton Indian Band and pay the first months’ rent plus ½ months’ rent as a damage deposit before taking occupancy of the unit. At the end of the lease period, if they have met the terms and conditions of the agreement, Penticton Indian Band will transfer ownership of the unit to the Band member.

Band Member Responsibilities

The Band member will be required to provide verification of income, where required, and must sign a promissory note prior to approval. The Band member must continue to occupy the unit for which the RRAP repair assistance was provided for a period of up to 5 years.

Penticton Indian Band Responsibilities
