Comprehensive Community Plan
This plan is the first stepping-stone to articulate our community’s vision to lead us forward, united as Sqilxʷ people. It gives us a voice, and guides our leadership in making the best decisions for our community. By gathering the visions and aspirations of our community, it will now lead us steadily towards planning for our land. The Comprehensive Community Plan will be updated and revised and is based on the collective vision for the Penticton Indian Band.

The Comprehensive Community Plan Re-Vision
Some of the goals indicated in the original process have been achieved. Some of the plans have been supported through additional available programming and in some cases the goals have changed based on our changing community. Although the process was shorter and less intensive as the original community plan, it is an important part of keeping the document alive as a guide for what direction the community is going. In the following pages you will find the past identified goals and associated activities in italics and the normal font is the efforts towards those previously identified goals.
The principle functions
- Establish goals, directions and broad development strategies to guide the future growth of the Penticton Indian Band
- Provide policy guidance for development, programs, budgets, actions and services
- Provide a basis for coordinating general land use decisions
- Provide a degree of certainty for Penticton Indian Band community members and the surrounding municipalities and governments
