Now that you’ve shared information about your household, let’s talk about what’s happening on the land today. This section will ask questions about existing conditions on Snpink’tn Reserve lands. Refer to the Existing Conditions Map (attached to this workbook) which shows existing conditions on PIB Reserve Lands. The existing conditions mapping builds off past work completed to understand current conditions of reserve lands including information on existing uses and tenures, traditional use data, water courses, and place markers. Traditional Use Points are markers that show where PIB has historically carried out important cultural or land-based activities. A 20-metre buffer from the traditional use points is shown on the map to maintain confidentiality and protect these cultural sites

It is the responsibility of every man, woman and child to respect and take care of tmxwulaxw and timixw through our direct participation and engagement.
The Syilx Nation is an independent Nation, we have the knowledge and right to determine how our lands are taken care of.
The teachings passed to us by our ancestors form the basis for making decisions pertaining with tmxwulaxw and timixw these teachings are described in our captikwl, language, ceremonies and way of understanding and relating to the world around us.
A strong Syilx cultural foundation gives us the strength to realize and uphold our responsibilities to tmxwulaxw and timixw.
The Penticton Indian Band community is strong and determined and we get our strength from tmxwulaxw timixw, our families and Kwuləncútn.

12.) PIB has a limited amount of land on-reserve that can be developed in the future due to certain constraints (protected land, environmentally sensitive areas, steep slopes).
