The requirements for issuing a status card are two original pieces of ID. One has to be a photo ID, for example, a BC ID, driver’s license, or passport, the second piece of ID can be a birth certificate, care card, current student ID, or a marriage/divorce certificate. You can use your status card if it has expired in the last six months. NO PHOTOCOPIES.
Issuing status cards is an on-going problem for some of our band members who have no identification whatsoever, and some that do have identification (e.g. they have a birth certificate and/or a care card but no picture ID, that is NOT ACCEPTABLE; one piece of ID MUST have a digitized photo, e.g. BC ID, a driver’s license, or passport).
SECURE CERTIFICATE OF INDIAN STATUS CARDS
There has been no given time as to when the Bands will be issuing the new secure certificate of Indian status cards. There is still the training of all the Indian registry administrators in all of BC to be done.
